Caro Jewelry Pouch: Refinement and Functionality

The “Caro” pouch is the perfect accessory for keeping your jewelry safe and secure. Meticulously designed, it features two dividers, creating three distinct compartments. This jewelry pouch is the result of a special collaboration with my friend Caroline of @permanentvacationclothing . Beyond our friendship, we share a common passion for India, which inspired this fusion of our respective worlds.

The queen of luxury upcycling, Caroline reclaims deadstock fabrics from luxury fashion houses and vintage saris, creating unique and beautiful garments. These pieces are crafted under fair working conditions by skilled artisans in small workshops in Delhi. Close collaboration between the designer and the workshops is essential for exchanging ideas, ensuring transparency, and maintaining a strong relationship between design and manufacturing.

For this collection, I selected a marbled pattern made on recycled viscose by Caroline. This captivating printing technique, also used on paper, is called Suminagashi. This Japanese art, which appeared in the 12th century, means "flowing ink." Suminagashi is an art form in its own right used to embellish paper. Applied to fabric, the process involves depositing dyes on the surface of a liquid to draw patterns. By placing the fabric on this liquid, it absorbs the dyes and the patterns are transferred. Each pattern is unique, as is each pouch!
