It's Fashion Week season! We're discovering the Fall/Winter 2017/2018 collections, but we're also enjoying the magic that blankets cities for a month. Magnificent buildings and the most famous palaces become true works of art twice a year, giving way to runway shows attended by the most influential names in the fashion world.

Where are Fashion Weeks born?

By 1943, Paris was already the city of fashion, where the entire world was focused. The desire to play the same role in the new continent, coupled with limited access to Europe during periods of conflict, led to the creation of the first Fashion Week in New York. The main goal was to allow designers to showcase their new collections to journalists and buyers from around the world.

The event was a real success, and around twenty years after the World War, Fashion Week shows became increasingly well-known and renowned.

Fashion Weeks are spreading around the world.

Among the four cities with the most renowned Fashion Weeks in the world, Milan was the location for the first one in 1958, which began as the Settimana Della Moda in 1975. It features more than 40 shows where you can admire the works of fashion houses such as Gucci, Moschino and Prada.

In 1961, the first fashion show took place in London, but it was more than twenty years later that London Fashion Week, as we know it today, was founded. For a few days, and with a little luck, you can see beautiful women with quintessential British style, like Alexa Chung, on the streets of the English capital, or in the front rows of Vivienne Westwood or Burberry shows.

The unmissable Paris Fashion Week is actually the most recent!

It wasn't until 1973 that Paris debuted in the Fashion Week saga. It's the city responsible for closing the fashion months twice a year. Here, you can admire the runway shows of the world's most important ready-to-wear and haute couture houses, such as Dior, Lanvin, and Jean-Paul Gaultier. But it's undoubtedly Chanel's shows that make the difference, where Karl Lagerfeld is capable of transforming the Grand Palais into an airport, a casino, or a supermarket.

If you have the opportunity to be in Paris during Fashion Week, don't miss the area around the Louvre, the Centre Pompidou, or the Palais de Tokyo, to discover the extra-official shows that the queens of street style will offer us during the few days before and after admiring the presentations of their favorite designers.

From March 2nd to 7th, Agnès de Verneuil will also be offering a showcase of her new collection at 104, rue Réaumur, in the heart of Paris. This event is reserved for professionals, by appointment only .
